It’s Music Festival Season!

It’s here! It’s here! It’s here!

Okay, that’s a little extreme, but I L O V E Country Thunder.
Love, love, DOUBLE LOVE!
It’s the one weekend a year there are no rules, no one is judging you(okay, everyone is judging you), and you truly have the time of your life! Not everyone may agree with me, but hey, you’re entitled to your wrong opinion. 😉

Now I know some of you might be asking “what exactly IS Country Thunder?”
It is a 4-day country music festival. You can camp, party, and listen to amazing music all weekend long. It is glorious. It it wonderful. It is my favorite time of year!

Some of my favorite memories with friends come from this festival. It is held at two places over the year. Florence, Arizona and Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. The Arizona festival is held in April and for this I am eternally grateful.

I have complied an ultimate camping checklist if you ever decide to check out one of these amazing events. However, this really could be used for any kind of camping trip! And yes, some of this stuff is VERY generic and basic, but nonetheless necessary. 😉
country thunder, camping list, camping, music festival, summer time
Ultimate Camping List:
(For Country Thunder specifically, I like to pack something along the lines of:
4 shorts, 2 pants, 1 dress, 1 sweatshirt, 1 sweatpants, 1 bathing suit just incase, and being a girl I pack way too many shirts, but nonetheless, pack shirts.)

(Again, for Country Thunder I pack something like:
Boots, flip flops, sneakers that can get dirty/muddy)

-Tent, sleeping bag, pillow, and air mattress.
At Country Thunder A LOT of people take an RV. That is a GREAT option. However this year, and in years past, we haven’t wanted to go through the hassle of getting one, so we always tent camp. I also bring an extra blanket just incase.

-Sun Shade

-Food & Drinks
We usually always overpack in both of these areas. The “mother in me” is always afraid someone will go hungry and/or thirsty and I never want that to happen!

I can’t stress this enough. There is a fair amount of drinking that can happen at Country Thunder. With that being said, you need to keep yourself hydrated!!! I can’t stress this enough. We also like to bring an extra few gallons for hand washing, etc.

-Paper towels, paper plates, and plastic cutlery

-Fold up tables and chairs

-Toilet paper
My suggestion for Country Thunder is to GET YOUR OWN PORT-O-POTTY! They do have some scattered along the campsites, but they fill up fast, if you know what I mean. It isn’t pretty. It isn’t fun.

-A lock
If you do get your own Port-O-Potty, bring a little lock for it so others don’t just walk over and use it.

-Camera & Batteries
People, this is one thing you will want. These memories need to be documented.

-Backpack or small purse
I, as a female, like to carry a small purse of some type to the actual concerts with me.
Chapstick, phone…the necessities.

Speaking of bringing a purse, have your ID on you AT ALL TIMES. There are undercover cops roaming around Country Thunder at all times and if you’re drinking, you’re subject to being ID’d.
Just have it on you.

You can’t bring drinks inside the concert area. Although they do have ATM’s, I hate the fee’s and I just like to bring some cash from home with me.

You’ll thank me later

-Trash bags
Guys, if you go to ANY music festival where you are camping out, PLEASE pick up after yourselves.

-Bug spray/Sunscreen

-Baby Wipes
Another thing you’ll thank me later for

-Cooking grill and charcoal

-Dry shampoo or a towel
They do have areas at Country Thunder where you can shower, but if I recall correctly it is $5 for 5 mins. No thank you, i’d rather buy a beer with that. Hence the dry shampoo, my best friend.

When you’re at your campsite all day, you want something to jam to.

-Corn hole or other outdoor games

-Chargers/Car Chargers

-Sunglasses, hat and/or headband
By the end of the 2nd day or 3rd day, you’ll want a hat or a headband to hide your hair.
It’s not usually pretty.

-First Aid Kit

Please don’t ever forget these! That would not be fun for anyone in your party.

There you have it folks! My list of things I typically bring to Country Thunder!
I simply can not WAIT for April to get here!

What types of things do you bring camping!?

DIY Chalkboard Sign

If you know me, you know I am not a crafty person. I am however trying to change that. I saw this on Pinterest and I KNEW I had to try it out. I, like the majority of the female population, am obsessed with anything chalkboard (and monogram and chevron). This craft was super simple, super cheap, and super adorable. Let me know if you try this one out! I think you would really love it.

This doesn’t take rocket science, trust me. Take some paint, plop it on the pan, and paint away.

I would suggest two or three coats of this chalkboard paint. LET IT DRY IN BETWEEN LAYERS!
And when you are finished, let it dry for 24 hours before you write on it because i’m an impatient little girl and it didn’t go over so well. Haha.

Such a simple craft! I am going to be posting mine up in the kitchen for a little decoration! Again, let me know if you try this one out! I would love to see it!

Does anyone else suffer from this or is it just me?!

To cure myself of this, I have decided to look back and post the top 5 viewed posts from my blog since I have started this journey.

1. My engagement post was a HUGE hit. Who knew so many people were interested in hearing our story?! And y’all, this includes a video!

2. And along with that came the story of how we met. It’s cute, we’re cute, it’s all good. People love learning about how you meet, and that rang true because people LOVED this blog post!

3. Our engagement pictures were so fun.

4. We bought our first home together this year! (Well, last year) Yes, it’s a fixer upper. Yes, we are excited. And yes, we still LOVE it! Here was our BEFORE tour

5. This post was probably one of my most favorite posts. I got so much interaction from it and I loved hearing everyones opinion about the subject!

Thing I Don’t Understand

There are plenty of things in this world that have me scratching my head and asking “why?!” These are the things on the top of that list:

1. When people say “Leggings aren’t pants!”
If leggings aren’t pants, what are they? A hat? A shirt? THEY ARE PANTS. Sure, some people take them to an extreme and make them look terrible. With that being said though, some people can ROCK THOSE LEGGINGS and look fabulous in them. I wish people would just stop saying they aren’t pants. They are.

2. When people say “If you’re posting about how happy you are in your relationship on Facebook, i’m assuming you’re secretly miserable and your relationship is about to fall apart.”
Uhm, excuse me but WHAT?! Since when does posting that you’re happy secretly mean that you’re miserable?! I missed that memo. If i’m happy and want to share it with my friends and family, I should be allowed to post it to whatever site I want and not feel ridiculed for it.

3. The saying “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”
Those people have clearly never had double stuffed oreos.

4. The “Blondes Vs. Brunettes” debate.
Why does it matter what color someones hair is? Everyone has their own taste/opinion. One is not “better” than the other. That is just silly.

5. When stores have items on “clearance” but it’s only one dollar or less cheaper.
I’m sorry, but that is NOT a clearance price. Why even mark it as clearance?!

What sorts of things do you not understand?! I’d love to hear about them!

The Best Chilaquiles!

Okay, I can’t say the “best” because i’ve never actually had these before. However M approved, and that’s all I needed! This was such an easy meal to make and seriously SO delicious! This is a must try!

food, dinner, recipe, chilaquiles

food, dinner, recipe, chilaquiles
-6 Corn Tortillas
-1-2 TBS Oil
-1/2 Cup Pinto Beans (or any beans of your choosing)
-1/4 Cup El Pato
-1/4 Cup Salsa
-6 eggs
-A handful of Mexican Queso

First, cut your tortillas into triangles. I used a pizza cutter for this

Next, heat your oil in a skillet of your choosing and place the tortillas inside. You want to let them fry in the oil for a few minutes until they are a little hardened up.

After the tortillas have cooked, place your El Pato, salasa, and pinto beans into the pan and cook until the tortillas soak up some of the sauces.

After this is done push all ingredients to the side to make room for the eggs. I chose to scramble mine, but you can cook them however you’d like.

After your eggs have cooked, all you need to do is top with your crumbled queso and cilantro and enjoy!

This is seriously such a simple meal. It was very filling and most importantly delicious. 😉

Guest Post: Caprese Chicen Recipe!

{Today the lovely Rachel from RachMarie PR is gonna share an amazing Chicken Caprese recipe! I can’t wait to try this one out!}

I love anything Italian and basically anything caprese. Who doesn’t though, right!? So, when I saw a different variation of caprese chicken the boyfriend and I put our head together and came up with this version.

Super easy, quick and delicious! After eating my piece of chicken I even said, “I figured this would be really good but I can’t believe how good it really was, and how easy!” It was delicious. I can’t wait to cook, and eat, this again.

4 skinless chicken breasts kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
3 large garlic cloves, minced
cherry tomatoes, halved – to taste
10 large basil leaves, finely chopped
8 oz fresh buffalo mozzarella, sliced in 1/2 inch thick slices
balsamic vinegar – to taste

Salt and pepper both sides of chicken and set bake at 350 degrees for 30-35min, or until thoroughly cooked..
Combine halved cherry tomatoes (I actually cut mine into fours), olive oil, garlic and basil in a bowl.
When chicken has finished baking, remove from oven, layer the top of the chicken with slice mozzarella and tomato and basil mix.
Place chicken back in oven until cheese is melted. Remove from oven and drizzle balsamic vinegar to taste.
