Why Little Girls Need Daddies

Its crazy how much can change in just one year.

Before M came along baby girl hated bugs, dirt, getting hurt, pretty much….anything and everything.
I wish I was exaggerating when I say that, but i’m not.
I remember when M and I first started dating and we were at a pool party with a bunch of his friends. Baby girl would not stop SCREAMING because there were flies. FLIES PEOPLE
I surely thought he would be done with me after that.
Who wants to date a chick with a kid who is afraid of everything on the planet?!
Thankfully, she has come a LONG way from that moment and I owe all of it to M.
Sure, I did a great job as a parent on my own. But you see when there’s only a mom in the picture, things stay at princesses and pink butterflies, bugs are gross and things stay clean. Although I knew bugs and dirt and flies weren’t scary, baby girl didn’t. I truly feel she needed a man in her life to really remind her things are okay.
Bugs are okay, dirt is okay, and monsters under the bed aren’t real.
It didn’t happen overnight by any means. The past year has been a huge growing and learning process for us all. Sometimes it kills me to know daddy is making her “tough it out”, when all I want to do is run in a kiss her boo boo’s all better.
She needed someone to show her how to play in the dirt.
She needed someone to show her how to kill bugs.
She needed someone to ride piggy back with.
She needed someone to make her be tough.
I’m not saying I didn’t do these things as a mom, however having a male around truly changed the way baby girl acted. She got a different perspective on things. She had another mindset when it came to certain situations.
I could have never imagined so much would change in a little girl over the course of a year.
She loves playing in the garden and helping shovel dirt with her daddy.
She barely cries when she gets hurt because she knows she needs to be a “tough girl”.
She loves to try new things and loves when daddy is there helping her.
She really really has evolved as a child having a full time dad in her life.
Each and every day I think about how blessed we are. I know not every situation is like ours. I know not every man out there is like M. He truly is the best dad though, and he is the greatest thing to ever happen to us. Thank you, M. You have given baby girl something that I could have never given her on my own. You are our missing puzzle piece. I will never be able to say thank you enough for that.
Happy Fathers Day, baby. XO.

Officially a MRS!

Did you guys miss me?!
Eh, didn’t think so. But nonetheless, I’M BAAAACK!
And the most exciting part?! I’M NOW A MRS!
I feel like i’ve been waiting for this for just about forever, but in reality M and I haven’t even been together a year.
Hey, i’m just excited we’re married now. Don’t judge me.

To everyone who attended our wedding, contributed in some way, and sent kind words of encouragement, THANK YOU. You all mean the world to us.
Our wedding was my idea of perfection. Everything from my makeup, to the food, to the weather. It was all flawless. I couldn’t have dreamt up a better day.

I will starting a ‘wedding series’ on the blog to highlight each area of our wedding planning/big day. I think going through things step by step will be helpful to any other brides in the area or anyone taking on the task of wedding planning!
I am excited to start this and I hope at least a few of you will be excited to read along!
If you have any questions or specifics you’d like me to talk about in this series, please comment or shoot me an email. I love to hear from you guys!

After the most amazing week away on our honeymoon, it’s actually nice to be home and getting into the swing of things. This weekend we have a little girl turing four and we have an entire house that needs unpacking/de-cluttering. Wish me luck!

I hope all of you have had a wonderful few weeks!
Did anything exciting happen in your life recently?!
Do you have any post-wedding tips?!

Post 9: How you hope your future will be like.

Fame, fortune, and nice things. Isn’t that what everyone hopes for?! 😉
Oh chill, i’m kidding! Halfway

I like to think of myself as an entrepreneurial type of person and the man i’m going to marry is definitely that type of person. I remember the first night we met and we each talked about having our own businesses someday. We both want to be financially stable from our own money. We don’t want to work for other people. Above everything, I think we each want to set a good example for our kids on how to build things up and how to make things truly your own. I would say at least once a week M and I talk about new business ideas or new product ideas. I love that about our relationship. We feed off each other in such a unique way that I truly haven’t had in any other relationship.

Obviously in the future I want more kiddies. I grew up in a big family and I could never imagine having just one child. Baby girl is going to be SUCH an amazing big sister and I can’t wait for the day we get to tell her the news that we are having a baby!

A home is a big part of my “future”, or my right now I guess. I want a place to be OURS. I don’t care where it is, or how big it is, I just want a place we call HOME. I want a place our kids get excited to come home to. I want a place our kids make memories in. I want a place we share holidays in. THAT is what’s important to me.

I like to think my future will be fun. M and I always say to each other “THIS is our life”. Like neither of us can believe that our life is this great, or this fun, or this amazing. We love to talk about crazy and wild ideas we might do one day and I think that’s what keeps things exciting.
The future used to scare me. Not knowing what was to come. But now I am beyond excited about it. I’m excited I get to spend each passing day with my best friend. I’m excited we are making all these dreams of ours happen. I’m excited that each day I get to look at things and decide how our FUTURE will be. Truly our life is beautiful. I’m not naive to think the future might be hard, but i’m also hopeful that we are the type of people to make anything happen. We want so badly for our dreams to come true for ourselves and for our kids. That makes me happy. There is truly no greater joy than knowing I am trying my best for my family.

Do you have any plans for the future?
Long or short term goals?

Post 7: Your zodiac sign and if you think it matches your personality

I am a leo, hear me roar!
I kid, I kid.
That’s about all I know about my zodiac sign. The fact that I am a leo.
I never grew up “believing” in zodiac signs, if that’s what you want to call it. I was raised in a christian home and I remember my mom telling me horoscopes/zodiac signs were bogus. I can’t fully say if I think it “fits my personality” or not, because I simply don’t read them. I just don’t think that because you were born in a certain time of year, you are a certain type of personality. Every single person is different, no doubt about it. And on another note? Horoscopes are hilarious to me. You’re going to believe some magazine telling you what days are “best for love”, or which days you should play the lottery? Excuse me while I laugh at you. HAHAHA. Okay that was harsh. #sorrynotsorry.

Thats the gist of it, people. My take on zodiac signs!

What is your sign?
Do YOU think it fits YOUR personality?

It truly is a miracle!

Who doesn’t love product reviews?! If you answered “me”, you are welcome to exit now. 😉
If you have ever been searching for a hair miracle, look no further! Ladies, I’M SERIOUS! Aussie 3 Minute Miracle is the best hair product ever. And who doesn’t love that it says “MOIST” across the bottle?! (I kid, i kid)

As someone who wears their hair up 99.539% of the time due to work, I NEED this stuff. My hair ends up so ratty and straight up NASTY after a few days. This purple bottle is my holy grail of hair products. I have purchased this a few times and all but one time I was beyond impressed. The last bottle I bought smelt like a bad port-o-potty. I couldn’t even finish the bottle. It NORMALLY smells like coconut and deliciousness. Thank goodness! When using this product, I normally put it in my hair and let it do its thang while I shave my legs. The only thing I dislike about the product? There’s no cap at the bottom of the bottle. Although you have to squeeze rather hard to get the product out, I still don’t like that its just open at the end. I find that odd. Otherwise, this product is literally the best thing i’ve ever tried on my hair! If you’ve never tried this, run to your nearest store and get some!

Do you have any holy grail hair products?
Have you ever tried this before? What were your thoughts?!

(Disclaimer: I am not being paid by any mentioned companies. All opinions are my own.)

“If I see anyone here I know, I’m going to die!”

The famous line I would always say to my mother when she dragged me into thrift stores….”If I see anyone here I know, I’m going to die!” Was I being a BIT of a dramatic 13 year old? Probably. But my mom would always counter my statement with “If they see you here, it’s because THEY ARE HERE TOO!” ….Touché mom, TOUCHÉ.

It’s funny looking back on times like that because I LOVE thrifting now. I literally get a rush from going to thrift stores and seeing what good deals I can find. It’s always a “win some, lose some” situation, but nonetheless it’s always fun! I’m glad that at a young age, in a world where everyone is in constant competition to look the best, I have appreciated the art of thrifting. Yes, I said ART, people! I truly believe I had one of the best hauls i’ve had this past week. Top 5 FOR SURE. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to look fabulous. I by no means have a great sense of fashion but I do like looking put together.

I found this cute swimsuit top. Although it MIGHT be a maternity top, i’m totally in love. I’ve wanted something a little more “conservative” for summer time and this was the perfect pick. It is a darker charcoal color and I figured with a bright colored bottom, this would look awesome!
Paid: $3.99 Brand: Old Navy

Who doesn’t love bright colored shirts?! I was drawn to this beauty for obvious reasons! I love the lace detail around the top and the shirt is beyond long! I LOVE long shirts! This material is so lightweight which is an added bonus.
Paid: $4.99 Brand: H&M

My next blouse is just too adorable. Not much to it, but I loved the simplicity of it. I quickly learned, when looking for a retail price, “BLAIR” might OR MIGHT NOT BE an “old lady brand”. THIS SHIRT IS STILL CUTE, OKAY?! (Hashtag don’t judge me.)
Paid: $4.99 Brand: Blair

Comfortable clothes are at the top of my list. I hate being in regular clothes any longer than I have to. I landed a SUPER comfy workout type jacket. “Activewear” they call it. HA! It should be called “Lounge around the house wear”.
Paid: $3.99 Brand: Lucy

Sweater season is fast approaching, is it not?! Well, if you live anywhere but the land of heat that I am from. Regardless, I love sweaters and couldn’t resist this one!
Paid: $5.99 Brand: Sonoma Life & Style (Sold @ Kohls)

These next two dresses were probably two of my favorite finds in the history of finds! This blue dress is just to die for! All lace, stylish, fits me?! Perfection. The “country vibe” of this really screamed at me and I just couldn’t pass it up.
Paid: $9.99 Brand: MERONA

This dress is a little….”out there”. Let’s be honest, I think it’s what i’m most excited about! Bright colors, crazy patterns, perfect in every way! It fit like a glove and I loved the classiness of it. And people….it has POCKETS! P-O-C-K-E-T-S. If you don’t love pocket dresses, you must not love puppies. Or ice cream. Or all things wonderful! Okay kidding, but seriously. I’m in LOVE.
Paid: $9.99 Brand: Emma and Michele

Do you thrift store shop?
What have been your best finds?!

Social Sunday!

I love links up and finding other bloggers I can relate to! Here are this weeks questions!

1. What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?
Our Mexico trip was my favorite, by far. I loved sitting on the beach, staying up late listening to the ocean, and oh ya, getting engaged! It was a vacation I will never forget!
2. What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer?
Well if we’re being honest, I have worked 98% of my summer. Yay for being an adult! And when i wasn’t at work this summer, I was in big t-shirts and sweatpants. Attractive, right?! However, these were a few of my “favorites” this summer.

(Maxi dress and ‘Love’ sparkle tank were both thrifted)
3. What is one thing you wish you’d gotten to do this summer?
My dad came home from Afghanistan and I really wished I was there for his coming home ceremony but it just didn’t work out. Other than that, I think my summer was awesome.

4.  What was your favorite song of the summer? “We can’t stop” by Miley Cyrus. #judgeme

5. What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer? Well I don’t have a TV, so netflix is my best friend when I decide to watch anything. This summer I watched Pretty Little Liars and I was hooked.

Sometimes we’re really cute

I think my favorite part about “wedding planning” was taking our ‘Save the Date’ pictures! It truly reminded me how much I just LOVE M. We can be silly, and serious, and just be….in love! I kept looking at him and saying “I have no idea what i’m doing” and we would just laugh. I love that about him. I love that I don’t have to pretend to know what i’m doing, or pretend like i’m good at things.
I was so excited to finally meet our photographer, who happens to be his cousin. Along with excited, I was a tad nervous. When he told me he “knew someone who took pictures” I was expecting someone who just owned a camera and took pictures for fun. Luckily, our photographer is AMAZING! She gave us direction and made us feel comfortable, which I loved and ultimately needed. This photo shoot reassured me that the photos of our wedding will be BEAUTIFUL!
I am so in love with these pictures!

(Remember this whole ‘I don’t know what i’m doing’ thing?!)

Sometimes we’re really cute. Wouldn’t you agree?! 😉
