Working out is all the rage these days, right? Right. Well Shazzy Fitness has provided me with some awesome workout DVD’s to review and also GIVEAWAY to one of my awesome readers! Guys, i’ll be the first to admit I am NOT good about working out. Actually, I’m quite terrible about it. Haha. Hey, just being honest! But when I DO workout I like two things to happen: make sure it’s fun, and make sure it isn’t too long. (Go ahead, judge me.) That is the two main reasons I LOVED these Shazzy Fitness DVD’s. Each workout is only 10 mins. 10 MINS GUYS! If I can do 10 mins, anyone can do it. Also, I loved how upbeat and lively the music was! Shazzy Fitness only dances to Christian music, which I like because I know it is safe for my kids to listen to in the background, i’m not worried about what they might hear.
Pros: -Short, timely workouts -I actually felt I was getting a workout -Music is fun but wholesome so I don’t have to worry about my child being around and hearing curse words. (Let’s be honest, a lot of hip-hop music doesn’t sound the best) Cons: -I feel like an idiot trying to keep up with the dancers because I have zero rhythm. Want to WIN an awesome copy of your own?! Goals. Everyone has them. Quite frankly, mine probably aren’t much different from anyone else’s I know. However, they’re the goals I am trying to achieve right now. I think having goals are important because it keeps you striving for something to better yourself or others. Without further ado, my current goals. 1. Exercise more. Or at all. I ran today for the first time in just about forever. I know you are all expecting me to say “IT FELT AWESOME!” or “It was totally worth it!” But you know what? It kind of sucked. A lot. It took everything in me to reach my goal of running/walking one mile. But I did it. And like M told me, “It will just be that much easier tomorrow”. He’s right. Tomorrow will be a better day at the run and each day is a new day for new running/exercising goals. I’m not concerned with losing weight exactly, although that would be awesome, I just wanted to be healthier and more in shape! 2. Eat better. Who doesn’t want this in their life? There’s always room for improvement. In my case? A lot of improvement. I love ice cream, popcorn, snacking on candy, and eating really bad for me foods. The next few weeks I am going to try really watching what i’m eating and also what i’m cooking for my family. 3. Try to cut dairy out. A few years ago I became allergic to dairy. Don’t tell me “wow that sucks”,I KNOW IT DOES!!! I don’t think i’ll ever be able to fully cut dairy out, but I am taking baby steps to do what I can do quit eating it in every single thing I eat. Because lets be honest, being sick every day is becoming really, REALLY old. 4. Not stress about the wedding. Dream big, right? Just kidding. I just don’t want to become bridezilla in the next two months and be the girl everyone hates. I’m trying to stay calm while still getting things done. It’s possible, right? 5. Swoon my handsome. With the wedding coming so soon and a million other things taking place right now, I want to make a serious effort to keep things exciting with M and I. Seems silly, but hey, it is a goal. (PS, I LOVE YOU BABE!) I feel like writing down goals helps you stay accountable a little easier. Also, posting it on the internet gives you crazy people who read my blog permission to kick my butt about any of the above listed goals. 😉 Do you have current goals? How do you stay on track?
Let’s be honest, trying to eat healthy is one of the hardest things i’ve done. I just love food, okay?! I’ve been trying to cook healthier meals and we really enjoyed this one! Cutting out smalls things every day is something that has been helping me a lot. How does the saying go? “No matter how slow you’re going, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch”? That’s how I feel in my every day struggles to make healthier choices. EVEN THE LITTLE THINGS COUNT! Like removing the tortillas from your fajitas. 😉 BEHOLD! FAJITA BOWLS!
1.5-2 lbs chicken
Green & Red bell pepper
Crushed red pepper
1. Cook rice according to box/bag. After rice is finished cooking, toss with cilantro and lime to taste. Set aside. 2. Heat a large skillet and add a drizzle of EVOO. (You can call me Rachel Ray for that) 3. Cook onions for about two minuets or until slightly soft. 4. Add bell peppers to onions and cook until desired softness. Take off heat and set aside. 5. Place chicken in a skillet and sprinkle with crushed red pepper. Cook chicken fully. (I set the peppers on a plate and used to same skillet, but do as you wish.) 6. Add vegetables back in with the chicken to warm up again. 7. Place rice in a bowl and cover with chicken and vegetable mixture. 8. ENJOY YOUR FACE OFF!
We added salsa and El Pato on ours, but again it is just a preference thing! This was a decently fast dish and really delicious! When M goes back for seconds, I consider that a WIN. 😉
Things I might have done different? I would have cut the peppers in bite sized pieces rather than long strips. Also, I MIGHT have done the chicken in an actual fajita seasoning packet, but it WAS really good just the way I did it. 🙂
What are some of your favorite “fast dinners”? Do you like Mexican type foods?
