Vacations I Want To Take

After another fun and eventful Monday in corporate America, I thought what better way to sulk in my misery than to list a few of the vacations I want to take.
(Because let’s be honest, if I listed them all, we’d be here all day. And no one wants that.)

I truly love traveling. It might be one of my favorite things to do. However, my bank account does not agree. And lately, neither does my five year old because she’s “offended” that we DARE not invite her to places.
But that’s a whole other story for another day…

In no particular order, I present to you some of the vacations I’d LOVE to take some day. And if i’m lucky, my ridiculously handsome husband will pick up on this and surprise me in 294 years when we can afford a lavish vacation. 😉

Napa Valley
Something about Napa Valley really appeals to me. Like really really appeals to me. The wine lover in me wants to be overlooking the gorgeous vineyards, sipping on wine, and forgetting that I actually live the life of a peasant. I mean really, who wouldn’t want that?! I’ve seen the pictures, and yes, every single one makes me jealous. It’s cool. Keep on sipping your wine with your floppy hats, i’ll just be sitting here wishing I was you.
Some day i’ll go there. Who wants to join?!

Bora Bora
If this ISN’T on your dream vacations list, who are you?!?! Have you not seen the over water bungalows? They are perfection. I want to be able to jump off my private porch into the crystal clear ocean, see that same ocean from inside my bungalow, and bask in the amazingness that is FSBoraBora. (That’s Four Seasons. I like to know what i’m talking about.) Shelby, hook it up, would ya?!

New York City
Yes, this is a place I haven’t been. I know, I know…it hurts my heart, too. There shouldn’t be much explanation as to why this place is on my list. I mean it’s NEW YORK CITY!

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
If you follow us AT ALL, you know that we love Mexico and we go quite often. However, Cabo is one place we haven’t been. I want to go there and experience the whole “deep sea fishing” nonsense that is hyped up about that place. If that doesn’t scream a good time, I don’t know what does. Oh and i’d also love to go on a catamaran ride! (Is that what those boats are called?!) We did Cancun on our honeymoon and now it’s time to cross Cabo off the list!

A Cruise
I’ve wanted to do a cruise for some time now. We are going on one in January and this will be our first one so any advice is greatly appreciated! 🙂

Of course my vacation list is a mile long, but this is just a glimpse into a few of the ones I am dying to take!
What are your favorite vacations you’ve ever taken? What’s your DREAM vacation?! Hope you all had a great Monday and you have a fabulous week!

2013 Recap

2013 was nothing I expected it to be, yet everything I needed it to be. I never thought the year would start out the way it did or go as amazingly as it did. Everything I have ever hoped and dreamed for happened this year and I can’t wait for next year to see what adventures lie ahead of us!

1. I met this one boy.
In February I met this boy. I had no idea the amazing relationship that would soon start, but I am so beyond grateful that it happened.

(This is the first night we met. You can read more about that here.)
2. Another year of Country Thunder.
A lot of people wouldn’t add this to the list of “amazing events in a year”, but honestly this weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year. I got to spend it with my absolute best friends and it was perfection all wrapped up into a few days.

3. I traveled outside of the United States for the first time and WE GOT ENGAGED!
Hi, one of the biggest moments of my life! It was perfect in every single way.
(Eyes closed, but I still love this picture.
Want to know more about how we got engaged?!
Head over here.)

That is rather new news and i’m sure half of you are sick of hearing about it, but I do not care!

This year has been a ridiculously amazing year. Baby girl has grown and learned so much, we’ve truly become a family, and our life is taking off full speed ahead of us! 2014 is going to be amazing!
A wedding, baby girl turning FOUR, and a house we are continually turning into a home.

What were your best highlights of 2013?
What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

Our Engagement Story

When M and I had first met, I kept thinking to myself “what if these are all my last ‘firsts’?” Last first date, last first kiss, last first time meeting someones parents. Something about him made me truly believe I had found ‘the one’. I will never forget our first date. He had told me “i’m looking to settle down”. That took me by surprise. Even if guys think that, they usually don’t express their thoughts about it.

4 months after dating, we took a trip to Mexico. I knew from the beginning that Mexico was a special place for M. He has so many memories there and I knew he was beyond excited to take me there. We were only going for a weekend, but I knew it was going to be a fun one. I had never been out of the country before and I was excited to experience this with him.

People always ask if I knew he was going to propose. And the story goes a little something like this….
M had somewhat dropped hints that he was going to ask but by the time we got there, I was completely surprised. I kept trying to force it out of him and he did give me this “bring sneakers, we might be going hiking on saturday.” I figured if anything was going to happen, it was going to be saturday afternoon if we took a hike.
Saturday morning we all headed out to the beach. We laid out, played in the ocean, and ate delicious burritos from the burrito lady on the beach! Once we decided we were going to head back to the house, I asked what the plan was for the rest of the day. You know, because we were going on an awesome hike or something, right?! I was wrong. So wrong. His response? “Probably just head back to the house, shower up, go grab dinner, and go to the Roger Clyne concert.” Uh, thats it?! It was completely out of my head at this point that anything was going to happen. I figured if anything was going to happen, the girls I was with would have made sure I looked more decent then I did, but they didn’t. We had walked out of the house to head to dinner, only to realize we had locked the keys in the house. Yes, in mexico, keys locked inside. After about thirty mins of the boys trying to get them out, they finally reached them and we were on our way.
We arrive at the place we wanted to have dinner and much to our disappointment, they were closed due to a wedding they were having. So lets back track…keys locked in house? Check. Place we wanted to have dinner closed? Check. Little did I know, this was the restaurant M wanted to propose at. You can see the night was clearly going in his favor!
We ended up going to a beautiful restaurant that was over the ocean. The sun was setting, we were with great friends, and i’m pretty sure 4-5 out of 9 of us had chicken fingers for dinner. When we finished we ended up walking up through the little fish market area to these statues. It was a cool place that overlooked the ocean and as I stated earlier, the sun was setting. Makes for a pretty romantic setting, eh?!
Next thing I hear “oh there is one more thing I wanted to do….”

I honestly don’t even remember what he was saying when he was down on one knee. And for the record, I wasn’t running away. I honestly felt like I was going to pass out and I needed to move my legs or else that would have happened. HAHA!

The rest of the night was spent with some of our close friends and I loved every single second of it! I couldn’t have imagined it any better way. I went to Mexico with a boyfriend and left with a fiancé!! The fact that I get to marry my very best friend is the absolute greatest feeling in the world. I’m excited for this adventure and to see where our life is headed.

Stay tuned for more posts about our wedding planning process and making our life wonderful!
