Sarah’s Garden: Wedding Flowers

Working with Sarah for my big day was one of the easiest tasks from my wedding. I found her due to the fact that she was a “preferred vendor” for our ceremony and reception site and I’m so glad that was the case. Sarah was such a pleasure to work with. She genuinely seemed like she cared about her job, my wedding, and how everything played out.
I loved the fact that she saw my vision even when I wasn’t sure what I wanted. Sarah took care of not only our flowers, but our centerpieces and also the decorations/flowers at the ceremony. I loved the way the flowers looked against the mens suits and the girls dresses. Everything was flawless. I got so many compliments the day of the wedding on the flowers and everything involved with that. If you are in Arizona and ever in need of a florist, Sarah is a MUST CONTACT person. She was kind, sweet, and just what I needed to make the flowers for my wedding gorgeous.

Hair, Makeup, & Getting Ready!

Finally, a wedding post! (Bachelorette post doesn’t totally count)

I always had a vision of what I wanted the morning to look like the day of my wedding.
Something about getting ready with my closest girls friends really excited me and I couldn’t wait for it all to happen. Although the morning was nothing like I envisioned, I loved it even more than anything I could have thought of it. It was truly perfect. The location, the timing, the memories.
Everything was wonderful.
My family that came from Ohio had rented a house close to our venue instead of staying in a hotel. I stayed there with them along with my best friend and it worked out so well. The morning of the wedding, all my bridesmaids came over there and we were able to use the house to get ready in. I felt so relaxed being in an actual house and not a hotel room. There was room for everyone, there was a huge kitchen we could use for food and drinks, and the extra living room space to finish projects was awesome.

I didn’t feel too stressed the morning of.
Actually, I take that back. I was stressed when I ordered pictures from Walmart for picture frames that were going up at the reception and the photo people in Walmart gave me SOMEONE ELSES PICTURES. I might have gone a little “bridezilla” at that moment, but for the most part I felt calm and collected. (Who knows what everyone else thought of me though!)

As for hair and makeup, I had people come to the house to do them.
My sister did my makeup which I was hugely grateful for. An old friend of mine came over to do my hair at the house, as well as baby girls hair and one of my bridesmaids. I loved being able to relax and not feel rushed to have either my hair or makeup done. 4 of my bridesmaids, along with the mothers, got their hair done at the Ulta Salon near where we were getting ready.

Tips The Morning Of:
Do not go hungry. You are going to be stressed and nervous and it’s good to have at least a little something in your tummy before the rest of the night takes place.
It really won’t help anyone. If something doesn’t go as planned, keep calm and move on.
Did I drink while getting ready? Yes. But I had one, maybe two, Mikes Hard Lemonades.
If you’re anywhere over the age of 16, two Mikes Hards aren’t going to get you drunk. With that being said, some people don’t know their limits. Do yourself a favor, don’t get drunk before the ceremony. It’s not cute, your pictures won’t turn out good, and you want to remember these moments.

Now without further ado, pictures from the morning of my wedding with some of my closet friends. Thank you to everyone who helped out that morning. You are all rockstars in my eyes.

Bachelorette Party!

It’s about time I have a wedding related blog post, don’t cha think?!
I’ve been waiting on getting my wedding pictures back so I can do things more smoothly and THEY’RE HERE! Last night M and I sat down with a bottle of champagne and went through all of them. I have never laughed so hard! I was reminded how much I loved our big day and I can’t wait to share our pictures with all of you guys!

But before I get into all the wonderful wedding pictures, I wanted to start off by talking about my Bachelorette Party! We didn’t do anything “over the top” but I loved what we did and I had SO much fun! I’m not one for public attention, so some of the things that took place were horrifying, like opening up underwear in a restaurant. Haha!

We first went to dinner at Culinary Dropout and it was wonderful. My closest friends were all there and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

We then headed over to Dierks Bentleys Whiskey Row bar in Old Town Scottsdale. I was expecting it to be a low-key and it was anything but that! When we got there, the band that was playing that night introduced themselves and we quickly made friends. Little did I know the night would lead to us dancing on stage with them, meeting tons of people, and having the time of our lives!
Thank you to the people at Whiskey Row and to Aces Up for providing an awesome night of amazing live music!
Also, thank you to Speyer One Media for taking awesome pictures that night!

Thank you everyone who made my night so special! It was the perfect kind of party for me!

Is Marriage Supposed To Be Hard?

I don’t know how many countless articles and blog posts I see with a reoccurring theme:
“10 Ways To Stay Happy In Your Marriage” or
“35 Best Ways To Love Your Husband Endlessly”

Although I don’t think these articles are bad, I feel like some of the messages they send aren’t the greatest. To me, when I see these, I see “marriage is, without fail, bad”. I am not naive to think there aren’t bad days in marriage. But with these articles, I feel a message is being sent that “no matter what, you will start falling out of love with your spouse” or “if you don’t do certain steps, your marriage won’t flourish”. To me, that is silly.

My idea? Choose happy.
Every day of your life, choose happy.

I remember when M and I were moving and my mom asked “how many fights did you guys get in along the way?” I was so confused by this because my answer was none. Were we supposed to fight? We were supposed to have a hard time moving?

What do you always hear about the first year of marriage? It’s the toughest, right?! Why? Because it’s new? Or because that’s the stigma put on the first year of marriage? Wouldn’t it be cool to start hearing “The first year of marriage is the BEST! Enjoy it!”. It’s sad that instead we are constantly reminded how hard the first year is.

I almost feel as if the articles online implant ideas into women’s heads. “If your marriage isn’t at this point, it needs work.” “If you don’t do these things, you’re not a good wife.”
Every person is different, along with each marriage is different. I think going into something EXPECTING the worst, you won’t get very far. I know no one goes into their marriage with that mindset, but what are these articles teaching us? Fighting is normal? Staying happy is only done a certain way? You need to be doing XY&Z to show your husband you love him?

Again, I understand each person is different. But try this; every day wake up happy. Say “I love you” everyday. Consciously make an effort to never let your marriage wither away. But most of all? Don’t expect things to go to shit. Don’t believe statistics. Don’t tell yourself what happened to that marriage will happen to mine.

I do think some of the articles on the web regarding marriage are great. Date ideas are so fun to read. But ways to save your marriage? I think that just implants ideas in peoples heads that it is unavoidable. Failing marriages are unavoidable. I’m here to tell you they’re not. Do what makes you happy. Nourish your marriage with all you have and put in the effort daily.

Oh and also? Kiss that amazing spouse of yours EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. 😉

Officially a MRS!

Did you guys miss me?!
Eh, didn’t think so. But nonetheless, I’M BAAAACK!
And the most exciting part?! I’M NOW A MRS!
I feel like i’ve been waiting for this for just about forever, but in reality M and I haven’t even been together a year.
Hey, i’m just excited we’re married now. Don’t judge me.

To everyone who attended our wedding, contributed in some way, and sent kind words of encouragement, THANK YOU. You all mean the world to us.
Our wedding was my idea of perfection. Everything from my makeup, to the food, to the weather. It was all flawless. I couldn’t have dreamt up a better day.

I will starting a ‘wedding series’ on the blog to highlight each area of our wedding planning/big day. I think going through things step by step will be helpful to any other brides in the area or anyone taking on the task of wedding planning!
I am excited to start this and I hope at least a few of you will be excited to read along!
If you have any questions or specifics you’d like me to talk about in this series, please comment or shoot me an email. I love to hear from you guys!

After the most amazing week away on our honeymoon, it’s actually nice to be home and getting into the swing of things. This weekend we have a little girl turing four and we have an entire house that needs unpacking/de-cluttering. Wish me luck!

I hope all of you have had a wonderful few weeks!
Did anything exciting happen in your life recently?!
Do you have any post-wedding tips?!

It’s The Final Countdown!

9 days until one of the best days of my life!
And where am I currently?
Laying on my living room floor feeling sick as a dog. Lucky me, huh?!
Actually, I am pretty lucky because I have an amazing man here who is fetching gatorade and midol for me. Nothing screams romance like that, huh?!

It’s officially crunch time and I have 492 things on my “To Do” list. This was not the most opportune time to feel like I got hit by a 10-ton truck. But nonetheless, trying to get ready to leave for the wedding must go on. We are headed down to the valley this weekend so we can be down there the week of the wedding to finish up last min. details and meet with the people we need to meet with for our final meetings.

My living room currently has all of our wedding items sprawled across it. Truly, you would think I am a hoarder of some kind. I promise you, i’m not. (Although my sister would beg to differ) The next two days will consist of packing up the cars with what we need to take, packing for the honeymoon, and getting our house clean because when we get back we are having a birthday party for a special little girl!
Uhm, do I really have an (almost) FOUR year old?!?

You know when you have a million things to do and you just want to take a nap instead? That’s where i’m at with my life right now. Except I really am sick and I really feel like death, so that’s acceptable, right?! Luckily my amazing future mother in law helped me with our favors yesterday and we were able to finish those! Just a few more things I need to get in place and we are pretty much set for the big day! EEEE!!!

I figured this will probably be my last post before the wedding, but in the off chance that something super exciting and blog-worhty happens in the next fews days, i’ll be sure to fill you all in! We leave the next morning for our honeymoon (which I am BEYOND excited about), so I will be back in a couple weeks.
If you just can’t get enough of me, which I know all of you can’t, you can follow me on instagram. That’s where I make most of my appearances. Something about filters and hashtags just really revs my engine. No but really, follow me over there and check out the shenanigans that will be taking place this next week. Family and best friends flying in, bachelorette party, and any other kind of mischief I can get myself into. You won’t want to miss the fun!

I hope you all have a great couple of weeks! Wish me luck!
Next time you hear from me, I will be a MRS

P.S. – How cool is it that this is my 50th post?!

Best Christmas Ever

Our first Christmas together! How special is that?!
This was definitely a Christmas I will never forget. We were lucky enough to be able to spend the holidays with both our families. We did our Christmas with his family on Christmas Eve and then drove to see my family for a few days.

On Monday I got to experience my first Progressive Dinner. This is a tradition his family does and it was so much fun. In my family, our only real traditions are opening a present on Christmas Eve and going to Outback! (HAHA!) Anyway, Progressive Dinner is when all his family gets together and goes from house to house and has something different to eat at each one. The first house we went to we had salad, rolls, and delicious spiced cider. Then we went to his Aunts house and had the best homemade chicken noodle soup. I’m talking homemade noodles and all, people! And then back to his mom’s house for dessert. At his mom’s house all the little kids dress up as characters in the nativity and they act it out. It was adorable. Also, Santa pays a visit at the end and hands out one present to each kid. Oh and did I mention going to each house we rode on a hayride and sang christmas carols!? How fun is that?! If you know me, you know I loathe don’t really like christmas music, but hey, it was a lot of fun. It was such a fun night and I can’t wait to keep doing it for Christmas’ to come!

(Christmas is about tamales, right?!)

The next morning we got to do Christmas with his family. I will just say one thing, this Christmas I got S-P-O-I-L-E-D! Hey, i’m not complaining. 😉
Baby girl asked for three things: A bike, sick baby, and a robe.
ONLY a sick baby though. She wanted to play doctor!
Well, all her doctor dreams came true with grandma and grandpa!
She got her sick baby and then some!

(my future MIL got a baby grand for christmas and I have no idea my knew how to play)

After all the excitement of this Christmas, we headed to my parents house to spend the rest of the holiday with them.
(we do Christmas jammies the night before)

(with her robe that grammy got her)

Daddy pulled out the big guns and got baby girl the princess bike she had been wanting! She was reluctant at first saying she “couldn’t ride it until she was bigger”, but she quickly got over that!

M and I both had really amazing years when it came to gifts. I got everything I could have hoped for and more!
(The top bracelet has mine, baby girls, and M’s birthstones as well as my initial with a diamond. The bottom locket has my new initials on the front and then inside was the picture from the first night we met and a picture of our cute little fam bam.)

I also got a lot of things to start homemade canning. I got M “The Total Money Makeover” and I have LOVED reading it so far!
Also, I had a life changing event happen. For as long as I have lived, I have hated cheesecake. Like loathed entirely. But I tried this cheesecake my sister and brother-in-law had brought and WOW! It was seriously the best cheesecake i’ve ever eaten. It was from a company in New York I believe called ‘Juniors’. It was heavenly, people!

For the most part, that wraps up our Christmas. It was the best one i’ve ever had. I loved spending it with M and his family and also being able to see my family as well. Baby girl had the best time ever and ultimately that is my Christmas goal, to make sure she’s happy.

As much as I love Christmas, I’m ready to say goodbye. Why?
How crazy is that?!?! It’s crunch time for the wedding and I’m so so so excited!

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas with your family and loved ones!

What was your favorite gift?
Do you even exchange gifts?
Have any of you read “The Total Money Makeover”?

2013 Recap

2013 was nothing I expected it to be, yet everything I needed it to be. I never thought the year would start out the way it did or go as amazingly as it did. Everything I have ever hoped and dreamed for happened this year and I can’t wait for next year to see what adventures lie ahead of us!

1. I met this one boy.
In February I met this boy. I had no idea the amazing relationship that would soon start, but I am so beyond grateful that it happened.

(This is the first night we met. You can read more about that here.)
2. Another year of Country Thunder.
A lot of people wouldn’t add this to the list of “amazing events in a year”, but honestly this weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year. I got to spend it with my absolute best friends and it was perfection all wrapped up into a few days.

3. I traveled outside of the United States for the first time and WE GOT ENGAGED!
Hi, one of the biggest moments of my life! It was perfect in every single way.
(Eyes closed, but I still love this picture.
Want to know more about how we got engaged?!
Head over here.)

That is rather new news and i’m sure half of you are sick of hearing about it, but I do not care!

This year has been a ridiculously amazing year. Baby girl has grown and learned so much, we’ve truly become a family, and our life is taking off full speed ahead of us! 2014 is going to be amazing!
A wedding, baby girl turning FOUR, and a house we are continually turning into a home.

What were your best highlights of 2013?
What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

The biggest blonde moment of my life

I am praying I am not the only human to have done this. You know those things that happen and you are just uncontrollably laughing at how….stupid you are? Welcome to the biggest blonde moment of my entire life.
Wedding planning is fun, right?
All the lovely pictures you put on Pinterest going into action, right?!
Unless you’re me, and you realize how poor you are and that your Pinterest board is a far off pigment of your imagination. Nonetheless, wedding planning IS getting done around here! This is the time of the planning process where you pick out invitations and mail them out to all your amazing guests. Apparently you’re supposed to order a million “sample” invitations and decide what ones you like. How many “samples” did I order? Oh you know, none. And apparently you’re supposed to hire a calligrapher. In the wise words of my soon to be husband, “you only hire those if you’re rich”. Touché future husband, touché. None the less, I found some wedding invitations online that I loved. And how did I decide which ones to pick do you ask? The coupon code they sent me! Okay, just kidding. (Kind of)
Really though, the invitations we ordered are perfect in every way and I LOVE them.
Now for the good part? Here I am in my head: “So we have 135 people on the guest list, so order a few more than that…so the option for 144 invitations would be enough.”….enough was an understatement.
Silly little me didn’t take into account that 135 people included couples and families and invitations that were being sent to the SAME ADDRESS. Moral of the story? I ordered about 3/4 too many invitations. The upside? I still LOVE the invitations and we got an AWESOME deal on them!

Okay okay, you can all laugh at me now. Because let’s be honest, i’m still dying laughing at my stupidity. HAHAHA.
Am I the only person who has ever done this?! I really really hope not.
So uh….if anyone wants a wedding invitation for you know….scrapbooking….or fire starter…or whatever, hit a girl up. 😉

Our invitations we’re sending out

The amount of invitations we have left over
Thank you for reading along in my absolutely stupidity. Feel free to judge me at any time. Hahaha.
