Little Ways I Know He Loves Me…

Have you ever researched your love language? Seriously, have you?!
If you haven’t, you really should. There are five love languages (gifts, quality time, words of affirmation, acts of service, and physical touch) and essentially it is how you express and receive LOVE.
If you’ve truly never looked into it, read the book and/or take the love language test. It has been revolutionary for me.

My love language? Gifts.
My husbands love language? Physical touch.
The language on the bottom of my list? Physical touch.
The langage on the bottom of my husbands list? Gifts.

I’ve realized my husband doesn’t like surprises or gifts the same way I don’t love to be smothered all day every day with hugs and kisses. But the greatest thing about marriage? We compromise for each other.
Some days I think to myself “why can’t he just surprise me or get me cute gifts?!” Well…it’s because he doesn’t feel emotion the same way I do when it comes to those things. AND. THAT’S. OKAY.

Each day I love thinking about the ways my husband DOES in fact show me that he loves me,
even if he’s pissing me the heck off.
I think that’s so important in marriage. Finding and realizing ways you still do love each other and go out of your way for each other. Like last night at 10 pm when I realized I left my charger in the car and without even asking M was first to jump up and say “I’ll go get it!”

Or tonight when he told me to go to the gym right after work even though I hadn’t made dinner yet.
He just wanted me to get that workout in.

Or the times he drops my car off at my work and walks home because he doesn’t want me to walk home in the cold, even if it is across the street.

Or the fact that he is a handy man and fixed our hot water heater this morning when I had no hot water for a shower.

Or when I lock my keys in my car 3,392 times and he never ONCE complains about it,
he figures out a way to get them out.

I love the saying “never stop dating your spouse”, but even bigger than that for me is don’t stop remembering the small things they do for you and don’t stop showing love to each other every single day.

I love our life so so much and I love my husband so so much. I know I am a handful. I know I am emotional, and dramatic, and sometimes a flat out brat. But I love love LOVE that M handles that. He loves me in ways I need it, he shows me compassion EVERY SINGLE DAY, he CONSTANTLY is showing me his love and I am so beyond grateful so him. Marriage is a great thing, isn’t it?!

All About Essential Oils!

I have such a fun post for you guys today and I can’t wait to share it! I’ve been interested in essential oils for i’d say a little over a year now and I truly love learning about their amazing uses. My friend Jessica is here to guest post today and I am so happy to introduce you all to her! The following post is from her, enjoy!

You might have recently seen posts about people using essential oils in various ways,
or maybe even know someone who has been using them.
I started using Young Living oils a few months ago and have had quite a few people ask for more information about what essential oils are and how they can use them in their daily lives. GREAT QUESTION!

First, just a little background about myself so you understand where I am coming from and then we will jump right into the fun stuff. I am a graduate student in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program pursuing a career to make an impact on the health and wellness in the lives of others. I am really passionate about treating our bodies with clean eating, vigorous and empowering workouts, and toxic free substances. When we treat our bodies with love and respect we feel better physically, emotionally, and cognitively. Essential oils have made a huge impact in my life. They’ve helped my fiancé and I with immunity support when we are feeling sick, substituted our cleaning and beauty products that are full of toxins, enhanced our quality of sleep, and have supported our emotional well being!
“HOW?!” you might ask! Well you are in luck because I am going to start with the basics and build from there!

What the heck is an essential oil?
An essential oil is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid (hydrophobic molecules can permeate through your skin and cells easily) containing aroma compounds from a plant—roots, seeds, bark, etc. This specific compound provides vital support and structure to ensure the success and health of its raw plant material. Through a precise steam distillation process and/or cold pressing, the purest essential oils formed are far more powerful than the botanicals from which they were extracted. Although they are recently starting to gain worldwide recognition, their uses are far from new. History tracks back to the use of botanicals as healing agents as early as at least 5,000 years ago!

Why Young Living?
After doing hours of research across the many essential oil companies I was easily sold with Young Living.

*By far have been around the longest, since 1993 and created by a DOCTOR
*Seed to Seal promise!! (Which means that they own and oversee all of the farms for organic crops. No middle man. No tricks up their sleeves. Just the way I like it!
*They only create 100% therapeutic grade oils which is the highest and purest form. After using them for a few months I can tell a HUGE difference in quality compared to other companies.

How to use them!?

How to get started with essential oils!?
When I first started looking on how to dive into using oils, I felt overwhelmed with how many different varieties there were. A close friend of mine recommended starting with the premium start kit and it was the BEST. DECISION. EVER! It came with the 11 most popular oils, a stress away roller bottle, sample oils, travel bottles, Ningxia to-go energy drinks AND a diffuser of my choice. This kit has been life changing for my fiancé and I and I plan to incorporate YL oils in my day to day for the rest of my life.
Even better, when I signed up with the starter kit I automatically got WHOLESALE price for life. No catch. They are just that awesome!

If you are interested in getting started with your own kit you can follow the link below. Make sure to choose the WHOLESALE account to receive that discount for life. They also take some personal info from you in case you ever decide to share young living with others…. because we know your friends will want to dive in to oils too!
 (You get a $$ bonus!!)

If you are interested in getting a kit AND becoming a distributor and sharing the powerful benefits of oils with others while making extra money from home…Email me! live2giveYLEO@gmail.com

Vacations I Want To Take

After another fun and eventful Monday in corporate America, I thought what better way to sulk in my misery than to list a few of the vacations I want to take.
(Because let’s be honest, if I listed them all, we’d be here all day. And no one wants that.)

I truly love traveling. It might be one of my favorite things to do. However, my bank account does not agree. And lately, neither does my five year old because she’s “offended” that we DARE not invite her to places.
But that’s a whole other story for another day…

In no particular order, I present to you some of the vacations I’d LOVE to take some day. And if i’m lucky, my ridiculously handsome husband will pick up on this and surprise me in 294 years when we can afford a lavish vacation. 😉

Napa Valley
Something about Napa Valley really appeals to me. Like really really appeals to me. The wine lover in me wants to be overlooking the gorgeous vineyards, sipping on wine, and forgetting that I actually live the life of a peasant. I mean really, who wouldn’t want that?! I’ve seen the pictures, and yes, every single one makes me jealous. It’s cool. Keep on sipping your wine with your floppy hats, i’ll just be sitting here wishing I was you.
Some day i’ll go there. Who wants to join?!

Bora Bora
If this ISN’T on your dream vacations list, who are you?!?! Have you not seen the over water bungalows? They are perfection. I want to be able to jump off my private porch into the crystal clear ocean, see that same ocean from inside my bungalow, and bask in the amazingness that is FSBoraBora. (That’s Four Seasons. I like to know what i’m talking about.) Shelby, hook it up, would ya?!

New York City
Yes, this is a place I haven’t been. I know, I know…it hurts my heart, too. There shouldn’t be much explanation as to why this place is on my list. I mean it’s NEW YORK CITY!

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
If you follow us AT ALL, you know that we love Mexico and we go quite often. However, Cabo is one place we haven’t been. I want to go there and experience the whole “deep sea fishing” nonsense that is hyped up about that place. If that doesn’t scream a good time, I don’t know what does. Oh and i’d also love to go on a catamaran ride! (Is that what those boats are called?!) We did Cancun on our honeymoon and now it’s time to cross Cabo off the list!

A Cruise
I’ve wanted to do a cruise for some time now. We are going on one in January and this will be our first one so any advice is greatly appreciated! 🙂

Of course my vacation list is a mile long, but this is just a glimpse into a few of the ones I am dying to take!
What are your favorite vacations you’ve ever taken? What’s your DREAM vacation?! Hope you all had a great Monday and you have a fabulous week!

Send Your Mom Flowers On YOUR Birthday

{This is a SPONSORED post and I am so grateful to The Bouqs Co. for this opportunity!}

If you know me, you know I LOVE traditions. (Like really really really love them)
I would have a tradition for every week if my husband wouldn’t sincerely judge me.

One tradition my husband DOESN’T think is crazy is sending our mama bears flowers on OUR birthdays. I know, I know. Your birthday is for YOU to be spoiled, but hear me out on this one…

Every year for the past few years (since I could start affording my own things and didn’t need to ask my mama for money), I love to send my mom flowers on my birthday. It is something unique and special in my eyes. (Unique until everyone starts doing this and I set a massive trend!) I mean if you think about it, you owe that woman everything. SHE BROUGHT YOU INTO THIS WORLD! And i’m sure she has reminded you of that a time or two. AM I RIGHT?! We love you mamas! 😉

Let’s be honest, I’m a sucker for flowers. M knows this. Flowers can make me smile in ANY situation and I just absolutely LOVE them displayed at my home.

Who orders flowers online? Come on….raise your hands! I know I do. Flowers are my “go-to gift” because we live in the middle of nowhere and it’s not easy for me to run and grab something for people or go visit them in the hospital. Happy, sad, just because….flowers are good for literally ANY occasion.
So if you’ve ever ordered flowers online…keep reading!

Have you ever heard of The Bouqs Co?! You’re in for a real treat with this one, friends! Have you ever wanted something MORE from your flower company?! What about farm fresh, cut to order flowers?!

The Bouqs Co is bringing you the next BIG thing with flower services. Not only can you order flowers through them, you can do next day delivery as well as use their subscription services or wedding packages! Like I said before, I send my mom flowers every year on my birthday as well as sending M’s mom flowers on his birthday. How simple is it that I can set up to have flowers delivered on those days each year?! Boom. Simple. Done. Sold.

Y’all, these flowers are GORGEOUS. So much so that after I signed up to do this campaign (WOAH. GASP. A BLOGGER DOING A SPONSORED POST.) I ordered some flowers. I don’t just sign up to talk about companies, I sign up to talk about companies I truly use. Do you want an awesome deal from this company?! When you use THIS LINK, you get an entire  bouquet free when you order one! You seriously can’t pass that up! I can’t wait to get my flowers and show to off to y’all! Follow the ‘ole instagram to see those photos.

Do any of you love ordering flowers for people online? Go give this place a look. I promise you won’t regret it. And if you DO go order something from them, drop me a line and tell me fun things about your order! Who are you sending to?! What’s the occasion?! LET’S TALK ABOUT SOME BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AND BEAUTIFUL LIFE STORIES! Just spice your life story up with flowers first. 😉

7 Things To Do With Leftover Spaghetti

We’ve all been there.
Ladies, don’t pretend like you don’t know what I’m talking about.
We embark on the endeavor of making dinner, trying to be fancy with that spaghetti, and we end up making enough to feed every homeless person in your entire state. Yup, we’ve ALLLLL done it.
DON’T YOU FRET my friends!
Today we (my husband and I) are here to bring you 7 Things To Do With Leftover Spaghetti!

1. S’ghetti Fries
When you’re over the typical “chili fries”, go for something WAY more exciting! And not to mention using leftovers, how awesome! Take your potatoes, dug fresh that morning from your garden (or store bought is fine), and make your every day french fries. (Or frozen is fine) Once you’re ready to eat, top with your s’ghetti and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. PURE PERFECTION! Also, grate some fresh parmesan from Italy overtop, or if you don’t have any,
 store bought is fine.

2. S’ghetti Smoothie
Okay, we’re all into being healthy, right?! Spice up your morning green smoothie! Kale, spinach, apples, celery, carrots, AND S’GHETTI!

3. S’ghetti & Coke
Have a long day at work? Need a drink? Open your cabinet and find your out of rum?! *BUT WHY IS ALL THE RUM GONE?!* Don’t you worry my dear friend, slip that s’ghetti right in with your coke and you’ll never know the difference. Except when you stay sober all night. But, it will be delicious and you can thank me later!

4. Biscuits and S’ghetti
Who doesn’t love biscuits and gravy?! (Well, i don’t but that’s beside the point) I LOVE homemade biscuits. Pioneer Woman makes a great ‘drop biscuit recipe’ if anyone is interested. OKAY OKAY LOSING MY TRAIN OF THOUGHT! Top those biscuits with s’ghetti from last nights dinner and BAM! A full meal for your enjoyment!

5. S’ghetti & Eggs
Probably our favorite on the list so far. (I say “our” because remember when I said my dear husband was writing this with me?! Isn’t he a gem?!?!) Toss some s’ghetti in a frying pan, top with eggs, and cook until your desired doneness.

6. S’ghetti Con Leche
If you’re out of cereal, just use s’ghetti! Place in bowl, top with milk. You’re welcome.

7. S’ghetti S’mores
I HATE when i’m craving a s’more but i’m out of marshmallows. Place your s’ghetti in-between two grahams and you ALMOST have the SAME thing! ALMOST.

But let’s be honest, the BEST way to eat leftover spaghetti is after it has sat in the fridge all night in your tupperware. Cold, alone, and crying for attention. On the middle shelf. Un-noticed. A lot like my entire childhood. Hashtag middle child problems.

Where are my spaghetti lovers at?!?! I hope you found this post fun and light-hearted!
Hope you all have a great week!!
XOXO.

I’m Nervous to Blog

I’ve heard it said before that great blogging is about creating an emotional connection with your readers and THAT is what you strive for. Every blog post I do, I think about who it might affect and the people I might touch with it. Over the past few months I haven’t blogged often, but I have shared about topics near and dear to my heart. Dealing with infertility, being on clomid, and not much in-between. Lets just say it: I’ve been slacking on the blog-front. Who is surprised? (No one raises their hands. I get it.)

I’ve been nervous. The last few blog posts of mine have created a lot of buzz. They’ve resulted in a lot of messages, texts, emails from people I don’t know, and so much more. I love that feeling. I love knowing I am creating content people can relate to. I love knowing I am being influential with my story. I love knowing people can relate to me on a “not so traditional” forefront. With that also comes a standard I have now set for myself. My blog has always been a huge success for me. AND I AM PROUD OF MY BLOG. I am proud of what i’ve created. But is it enough?

I’m nervous that now that i’ve created, what I think is amazing content, people are expecting that type of content with each post, picture, status, etc. It takes time for me, though. It takes time for me to muster up the courage to post such heart-wrenching blog posts. I love doing it more than anything, but it honestly takes me days to even post because I analyze and dictate every word and sentence. Am I being too honest? Am I being too mean? Am I being too open? Am I sharing too much? It ALL crosses my mind.

What if what i’m posting now isn’t good enough? What if my every day, working an 8-5, can’t keep our house clean type blog posts aren’t good enough? People don’t want to read about how i’m tired everyday or about how our house still looks like we moved in last week despite being here for almost two years. (WAIT WHAT?!?!) No one wants that. I think that’s why I go through spurts of not blogging. I get nervous.

I have standards for myself and for my blog and being mediocre isn’t in those standards. Right now, i’m in the process of trying to “rebrand”. If you’re a blogger, you know what that entails. If you’re not a blogger, just bare with me. I promise it will be worth it. I PINK PROMISE that it will be worth it.

I love my blog. I love my readers. I love my life and everything I share with y’all. I hope that I haven’t disappointed any of my loyal readers and you understand where I am coming from for the time being. I know I say it a lot, but I love and appreciate EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. YOU. These next few months are going to be exciting.
Will you continue along in our journey?

Worst Blogger Ever

Here we are again….over a month without a blog post….
Worst blogger on the planet award goes to yours truly.

I’ve been in some kind of “funk” lately and haven’t known quite how to get out of it. Bless my husband for dealing with me. (Truly, he’s amazing and I can’t say it enough how much he deserves a trophy)
I hate EVER admitting that i’m even upset because I feel like my life is far too wonderful and perfect to even feel the slightest bit of discontent. I honestly feel so guilty about. But when it comes down to it, some days I am upset. Im down right UPSET.

I’m truly trying to change my outlook on things and just overall BE HAPPY. Consciously CHOOSING to be happy. However, for me, that is easier said then done. I mean some days it is literally all I can do to get out of bed and go to work. Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way some days? (Or in my case, for weeks at a time?)

With my blog lately, I just haven’t felt like there has anything “blog worthy” happening in my life lately. When the fact of the matter is, my entire life is blog worthy, I just need to step back and take a second to see it. At the end of the day I don’t blog for anyone other than myself, but when the days come and all I want to do is crawl into bed, typing to my computer is the last thing I want to do.

I’m coming back. I want to be present in my little corner of the internet. I’m going to be posting more. I am going to be here. I hope I don’t sound like a complete crazy person in this post and maybe ONE other person can potentially relate to how I feel.
We’ve had a fun month in our home. Here are a few pictures from my favorite times.

When little girls are tired in Mexico, Daddy holds them until they fall asleep. Be still, my heart.

My flower child

Two seconds after I said “i’ve always wanted one of those pineapple drinks”, he pulls over and hops out to buy me one. Quite the romantic guy if you ask me!

My favorite view in Mexico

Snuggling my precious girl is my favorite.

M decided he wanted to build this off our garage. Being married to a “handy man” has quite the advantages!

I’m the girl who orders two desserts because I can’t decide. Judge me.

Fancy dinner this weekend with my lover butt to celebrate FINALLY selling our vehicle!

Why Little Girls Need Daddies

Its crazy how much can change in just one year.

Before M came along baby girl hated bugs, dirt, getting hurt, pretty much….anything and everything.
I wish I was exaggerating when I say that, but i’m not.
I remember when M and I first started dating and we were at a pool party with a bunch of his friends. Baby girl would not stop SCREAMING because there were flies. FLIES PEOPLE
I surely thought he would be done with me after that.
Who wants to date a chick with a kid who is afraid of everything on the planet?!
Thankfully, she has come a LONG way from that moment and I owe all of it to M.
Sure, I did a great job as a parent on my own. But you see when there’s only a mom in the picture, things stay at princesses and pink butterflies, bugs are gross and things stay clean. Although I knew bugs and dirt and flies weren’t scary, baby girl didn’t. I truly feel she needed a man in her life to really remind her things are okay.
Bugs are okay, dirt is okay, and monsters under the bed aren’t real.
It didn’t happen overnight by any means. The past year has been a huge growing and learning process for us all. Sometimes it kills me to know daddy is making her “tough it out”, when all I want to do is run in a kiss her boo boo’s all better.
She needed someone to show her how to play in the dirt.
She needed someone to show her how to kill bugs.
She needed someone to ride piggy back with.
She needed someone to make her be tough.
I’m not saying I didn’t do these things as a mom, however having a male around truly changed the way baby girl acted. She got a different perspective on things. She had another mindset when it came to certain situations.
I could have never imagined so much would change in a little girl over the course of a year.
She loves playing in the garden and helping shovel dirt with her daddy.
She barely cries when she gets hurt because she knows she needs to be a “tough girl”.
She loves to try new things and loves when daddy is there helping her.
She really really has evolved as a child having a full time dad in her life.
Each and every day I think about how blessed we are. I know not every situation is like ours. I know not every man out there is like M. He truly is the best dad though, and he is the greatest thing to ever happen to us. Thank you, M. You have given baby girl something that I could have never given her on my own. You are our missing puzzle piece. I will never be able to say thank you enough for that.
Happy Fathers Day, baby. XO.
